KOCHI: The accused in the gold smuggling case Swapna Suresh has received a new job. Swapna has been appointed as the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager of HRDS, an NGO based in Palakkad.

HRDS is an NGO working for the welfare of tribal people by providing homes to them. Swapna's responsiblity is to bring funds from the UAE to build homes for tribals in Attapady. They receive money mainly from the Gulf countries.

Although, Swapna's joining date was in last week, she asked for an extension in the date as ED's questioning was in progress.

Meanwhile, Suraj T Ilanjikal, who was Swapna Suresh's lawyer in the gold smuggling case, has refused to proceed with the case. He has informed the NIA court in Kochi about this.The lawyer said that the reason behind the withdrawal cannot be disclosed.
