THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Indian Oil Corporation has increased diesel prices for KSRTC. An increase of Rs 6.73 per litres has been imposed. The price was increased by including in the bulk purchase category. This move by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has worsened KSRTC's situation. The central government has imposed the price hike on those consuming more than 50,000 litres of fuel. KSRTC is the only company in the state to consume more than 50,000 litres of fuel per day. Therefore, only KSRTC will be affected by this price hike.

With the price hike, KSRTC will now have to pay Rs 98.15 per litre for diesel. KSRTC will incur an additional liability of around Rs 37 lakh per day. While KSRTC pays Rs 98.15 for diesel, private pumps get it for Rs 91.42.
