THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor’s policy address began by enumerating the achievements of the state. Kerala leads in the sustainable development index. Kerala is the state where poverty is the least in the country. The state’s health sector is at the forefront in NITI Aayog’s development index. During the Covid period, the government stood with the people and provided assistance to the families of the dead.
The government’s 100-day action plan has been implemented. The water level in Mullaperiyar dam should be maintained at 136 feet considering public safety. A new dam should be constructed. Steps will be taken to improve the industries. Entrepreneurs' problems will be solved in a timely manner. Public sector institutions will be modernized. It is the government’s goal to provide housing for all.
The SilverLine project is environment friendly. It will create more employment opportunities in the state. Speed and comfort will also increase. Expecting central government’s approval for the project, said the governor.
He also criticized the central government. The central allocation to the state is decreasing. The centre has an obligation to assist states in times of financial crises. Despite the increase in expenditure, the allocation has not been raised. The center should resolve the farmers’ problems as well. Federalism is an indispensable factor. However, the states are not being consulted in several matters. Central legislations were also criticized in the policy address.
The first phase of K-FON project will be completed soon. Health facilities will be provided for guest labourers. Those who do not have land will be given title deeds. Stringent action will be taken against encroachments. Changes will be brought in crop insurance. The government will aim for self-sufficiency in milk production. The government will not compromise on corruption, said the governor in his policy address.
