THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have not obtained any clue about the knife used by the accused Rajendran to murder Vinitha, an employee of the plant nursery in Amabalamukku. His custody tenure will end today. Rajendran spoke contradictorily about the place where he abandoned the knife and later said that he does not remember where he abandoned it.
The police questioned him in detail yesterday to find the knife which is a crucial evidence. Though he said he threw the knife somewhere while travelling in an auto, he refused to say exactly where it is. If any items are thrown from the auto it should come to the notice of the driver. The police have not received any such indications from the auto driver. Police suspect that Rajendran is deliberately hiding the place where he hid the knife to escape from the case.
The investigation team hope to take a decision on the knife today.
The thali of Vinitha's chain is also missing. Though the chain was recovered from a financial institution in Tamil Nadu, there was no thali in it. He said that he hid it in a pipe installed to drain rainwater from the sunshade of his rented house in Anchugramam. Wedding ring, locket and thali are usually not pawned in financial firms in Tamil Nadu. That was why the locket was hid in the pipe.
Rajendran was in Tamil Nadu on the next day of the murder. It is suspected that it may have flowed in the water as it was raining. Though the police were not able to find the thali, they have got many evidences to connect Rajendran with the murder from his rented house in Tamil Nadu. The receipt of pawning Vinitha’s chain, OP ticket of Peroorkada Hospital and the chain recovered from the financial firm are some of the crucial evidences obtained.
If there are no new revelations about the knife, the investigating team’s move is to produce Rajendran in court before 5 pm today on the day his custody tenure ends. If he reveals the place where it is hid, he will be produced in the court after found in the presence of him.
