THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSEB is gearing up to make the state level toll free number 1912 more widespread and popular. It will arrange facilities such as doorstep service and system to receive more calls at the same time.
At present, only 50 calls are accepted at the same time. When calling 1912, consumers will have to press 11 and then type in their 13 digit consumer number. They will be able to inform their grievances after this.
Consumers can call 1912 to report power outages, voltage shortages, transformer problems, power line replacements, post replacements, meter issues, bill related complaints, electricity-related accidents and online payment complaints and seek redressal. If calls are unanswered, they can call 9496012400 to report the grievance. Consumers can also avail services of 1912 by texting the complaints to the Whatsapp number 9496001912 along with the consumer number.
Doorstep service for doorstep connection
From now onwards, employees of the electricity department will reach the doorsteps of consumers to provide new connections. A consumer should call 1912 and register to get a new connection. KSEB has initiated procedures regarding this new service. Officials from the Thiruvananthapuram Central Office will seek information regarding the new connection. This information will be then transferred to the respective section office limits. As soon as it is received, the section office will call back to the user's phone and give instructions. An overseer will come and check the documents for a single-phase connection. In case of a three-phase connection, an assistant engineer and sub engineer will come and check the documents. The officials will scan and upload these documents. The consumer can make an online payment to the Electricity Board.
