KOCHI: Kitex MD Sabu Jacob has alleged that Twenty20 worker Deepu's assassination was planned by the CPM. "The crime was committed by a criminal gang. The culprits committed the murder without causing any external injuries. Therefore, it cannot be seen as a coincidence," Sabu said. He also said that Deepu was an active worker of Twenty20 from its inception.
According to Sabu, the attack against Twenty20 escalated since Srinijin became the MLA. "Law and order have been in disarray for ten months. Fifty Twenty20 activists have been attacked and it is not even possible to complain about violence," he said.
"Srinijin should be named first accused in the case. The gang that committed the crime had contacted the MLA before and after the incident. These regions were going very peacefully. However, there have been a series of violence in the last 10 months. Srinijin has given license to goons to unleash violence in the region," he added.
Deepu, a Twenty20 activist, was beaten up by CPM activists during a candlelight protest against Kunnathunadu MLA P V Srinijin in Kizhakambalam last Saturday. He was taken to the hospital two days later after he complained of a severe headache. He died on Friday.
Meanwhile, Srinijin MLA demanded an impartial inquiry into the death of Deepu. The MLA said the conspiracy to turn the incident against the CPM would be dealt with legally and politically.
