KOCHI: Twenty20 activist CK Deepu, who died while undergoing treatment after getting beaten by CPM activists, was a CPM worker before he joined Twenty20. He had entered the party through DYFI. He was also active in the cultural field.

Deepu was one of the several people who left the CPM 10 years ago due to differences with the party's local leadership. He then joined Twenty20 and later became its area secretary. Despite having financial difficulties, he stepped forward to help others. He abandoned marriage due to poverty.
