PALAKKAD: Minister K Krishnankutty has said that the state government is planning to reduce electricity charges during the day and increase rates at night. He said reducing daytime rates would benefit industries.


The smart meter will be launched soon as per the instructions of the central government. With this, energy charges can be reduced or increased by looking into the usage time.

The minister came to inaugurate a three megawatt solar power plant at Palakkad Kanchikode 220 KV substation.

Regarding the issues within KSEB, the chairman, the board and the staff all work for the institution. If there are any lapses in the functioning, it can be inspected. The minister said that no problems have been found so far.

He later said in the inaugural function that in the wake of the landmark judgment of the Supreme Court on the CEA regulation, KSEB has been directed to give promotions to 4230 workers who have been out of promotion for years within two weeks.

A Prabhakaran MLA presided over the function. VK Sreekandan MP delivered the keynote address. Independent Director Adv V Murugadas spoke. KSEB CMD Dr B Ashok welcomed the audience and Director R Suku delivered the vote of thanks.
