The verdict in the Ahmedabad serial blasts case, which claimed the lives of 56 innocent people, is a stark warning to the forces of darkness who are trying to overthrow the country through terrorist activities. The Kerala community is concerned that three Malayali youths are among the 38 people sentenced to death. Two Malayalis are among the 11 convicts sentenced to life imprisonment in the case. On July 26, 2008, a series of bomb blasts rocked the city of Ahmedabad. An organization named Indian Mujahideen claimed responsibility for the blasts. The bombing took place after giving a warning through TV channels. The blasts took place even in hospitals. Twenty-one explosions took place in the main centres of the city within seventy minutes. Investigations have revealed that the banned militant group planned the series of blasts in retaliation for the widespread persecution of minorities during the 2002 Ahmedabad riots.

This is one of the rarest cases. The accused planted the bombs with the aim of killing as many people as possible in urban areas. During the extensive investigation, 77 people were arrested. At the end of the trial, the court acquitted 28 people. One turned approver. The militants had planned to carry out a series of blasts in Surat along with Ahmedabad.

Terrorist organizations that foolishly think that they can achieve their goals by taking the lives of innocent people should not hope that this rare verdict of the special court will be an opportunity or a lesson for conversion. The community and the country are deeply concerned that many highly educated people are joining such extremist organizations. Shibili and Shaduli, both Malayalis, who were sentenced to death by a special court, were working in the technical field. Both were convicted and jailed for attending Vagamon weapons training camp. Sharafuddin, the third Malayalee to be executed, was a driver who lost his way and eventually turned to terrorism.

Terrorists and extremists always aim to target innocent people. The main thing they are doing is attacking the crowd and taking their lives. They try to instill maximum fear in the people through destructive activities under the guise of attacking the government.

It has been reported that the accused in the Ahmedabad blasts case were targeting top leaders like Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. Leaders have often escaped from terrorists luckily and through the intervention of security forces. Terrorism and extremism cannot be tolerated by any country with a systemic system in place. Examples of what would happen if they were allowed to grow are already there in our neighbourhood. Society must be able to prevent young people from going astray. The verdict in the Ahmedabad blast case may be questioned. It has been announced that the verdict will be challenged through an appeal. How can the context of the case that led to such a verdict be ignored? Undoubtedly, this is a verdict that brings justice to the families of the 56 people who died in the blasts.
