KOTTAYAM: A case has been registered against people who attended the funeral of Twenty20 activist Deepu, who died while undergoing treatment after brutally thrashed by CPM activists. The action is for violating Covid norms. A case has been registered against 1,000 including Sabu M Jacob.

Deepu's body was cremated last evening at 5 pm at the public cemetery in Athany. The body was kept at the Twenty20 Nagar in Kizhakkambalam at around 3 pm. Many arrived to pay homage.

Meantime, the full post-mortem report of Deepu will be released today. Initial reports say head injury is stated to be the cause of death. The post-mortem was conducted at the Kottayam Medical College. The police will investigate in detail the allegations of many including
