KATTAPPANA: The incident in which a youth of Tamil origin finding dead in the courtyard of his house has turned out to be a murder. His wife has been arrested. Renjith (38) of Puthuvel Colony in Vandanmedu was found lying dead in front of the courtyard of his house on the night of February 6. The police registered a case of unnatural death after finding something suspicious. Though the neighbors and friends were questioned in connection with the case, the police did not get any clue.
Renjith's wife Annailakshmi, (28) confessed to the crime when the police questioned his family members on Saturday. Renjith was killed in a fight over consumption of liquor. On the day of the incident, he came home drunk and then entered into an argument with his wife and mother. The woman beat him to death after he attacked her on her birthday.
She beat him on his head several times with a coffee stick and then strangled him with a plastic rope around his neck. She told police that she committed the murder out of sudden provocation. District police chief R Karuppaswamy on suspicion had directed to conduct a detailed probe into his death. A police team led by Kattappana DySP V A Nishad Mon investigated the case. The accused will be produced in the court today.
