KOCHI: Sabu M Jacob, the chief coordinator of the Twenty20, has announced that the party will take over the family of the slain Twenty20 activist Deepu. "The party will bear all the expenses of Deepu's family from now on. The party will take over the education of the children and the treatment of the parents", Sabu Jacob said after visiting Deepu's house.

"Twenty20 won't build a martyr's memorial like other parties or spend crores of rupees on it. Deepu's family members will have the support of the party till the end", Sabu Jacob said.

Deepu (38), a native of Kizhakkambalam, was assaulted during a 'light off agitation' in Kizhakkambalam. He was admitted to the hospital in critical condition and died soon after. A case was filed against the party workers for violating the rules by gathering at Deepu's funeral.

Twenty20 had alleged that the CPM is behind Deepu's death. But the CPM alleged that Deepu was a liver patient which was rejected by Twenty20 and Deepu's family members. Twenty20 has demanded a CBI probe into Deepu's death.
