murder

NEW DELHI: A daughter has killed her mother for refusing to give money. The dreadful incident took place in Ambedkar Nagar in Delhi. The dead has been identified as Sudha Rani (55). The police have arrested daughter Devyani Chauhan and friend Kartik Chauhan in connection with the incident. Sudha had been running a shop in Ambedkar Nagar. She was a BJP worker and had contested in the Delhi municipal corporation elections in 2007.

The daughter had informed the police that two thieves entered her house, robbed her jewellery, pointed a gun at them and killed her mother who had tried to stop them. When the police arrived, the body was found lying in a pool of blood. The police have not found any evidence suggesting visible signs of struggle. There were no signs of robbery as well.

The police soon recorded the statement of daughter Devyani and further questioned her as they found her actions to be suspicious. Devyani confessed the crime in the subsequent interrogation. She had committed the crime with the help of her friend Kartik, as her plan to steal money from her mother failed. At first they mixed sleeping pills in her mother’s tea and later slit her throat using a blade. Devyani had also given some gold to her friend in order to make it look like a robbery attempt.
