KOCHI: Police have registered a case against the mother of the two-and-a-half-year-old girl who is undergoing treatment at Kolenchery Hospital after sustaining a serious head injury. Police registered the case after it was found that the mother had caused a delay in bringing the child for treatment. The mother took the girl to the hospital only after she developed epilepsy.

The mother and grandmother, who rushed the child to the hospital, told the doctors about the incident in different ways. According to the mother, the child, who was hyperactive, fell from the top and injured her head while playing. However, the child's grandmother said that she was beaten by some. Upon questioning, they revealed that the child was thrashed by her stepfather.

The child's stepfather has gone into hiding. When the child was taken to the nearby hospital, they asked them to take her to the hospital in Kolenchery after finding that her health condition was critical. According to doctors, the child was beaten for several days.
