THRISSUR: Police have found that Asif, a software engineer in Kodungallur, bought calcium carbonate online to create poison gas to kill his family. Police have not released the name of the chemical that was mixed with it as it could lead to more crimes. Asif, 41, his wife Abeera, 34, and their children Azhara Fathima, 14, and Aneununnisa, 8, were found dead in their bedroom at their home in Uzhuvathukadavu in Lokamaleswaram last day. There was a presence of carbon monoxide in the bodies with traces of lead oxide.
Police say the matter can be confirmed only after receiving the post-mortem report.
Planned two years ago
It is learned that Asif had planned to commit suicide two years ago due to financial liability. A typed suicide note was found in the bedroom that mentions a liability of crores. Two crore is needed to settle a single liability. Asif's suicide note states that he can not pay the debt with his salary alone. At the same time, it is said that Asif was reluctant to ask the lenders for more time. Locals demanded that the government take action to stop the online sale of chemicals that caused the deaths of Asif and his family.
