THRISSUR: Relatives said the woman committed suicide at Attuppuram in Thrissur due to the mental harassment of her husband. The police have registered a case against Jaffar of Naranipuzha, her husband and a probe has started. Firuz was found hanging in her bedroom on February 8. Her family said Firuz committed suicide soon after her husband’s phone call.
Her parents said that she had asked us to take her back home. She told us that she cannot stay here. He and his family ill-treated her. After coming home, she was happy. At times he used to video-call her to see the baby. She committed suicide after his call came last, said her father.
Jaffar working abroad married Firuz one and a half years back. The couple has a four-month-old baby girl. After marriage, she was abroad. Her parents said that he started harassing her after she became pregnant. She was brought home due to the mental harassment. He threatened her via phone. The phone dialogues were handed over to the police as proof. They also complained that he was not ready to look after his wife and baby. Firuz's sister is now looking after the baby. The locals want Jaffar to be deported from abroad and sent to jail.
