KOCHI: The court has directed to complete the investigation in the actress assault case and submit the final report on March 1. The High Court also asked what was so special about this case and what could be further investigated in the testimony of a witness.

The DGP informed the court that re-investigation is in its final stage. The Director-General of Prosecution told the court that the testimony of 20 witnesses had been recorded. The prosecution was responding to a court ruling that the probe could not be extended indefinitely. The court also observed that two months have now elapsed. The court also asked how long it would take to complete the follow-up investigation and the prosecution told the court it had no objection to setting a time limit. The court also noted that the Supreme Court had given four extensions to complete the trial. The court also asked where Balachandra Kumar was during these 4 years. The government told the court that it had obtained 81 points from Balachandra Kumar's statement and had received evidence in this regard.

The High Court was considering Dileep's plea to cancel the probe. HC has added survivor as a party in the case. Survivor had stated in the application that the accused Dileep could not legally interfere in the investigation or re-investigation of the case.
