KOZHIKODE: Another inmate escaped from the Kuthiravattom mental health center but was later found. The 24-year-old from Kundamangalam escaped while taken outside for bath at 6.30 am yesterday. The staff informed the medical college police and he was found in Madavoor on the Kundamangalam-Narikkuni route in the afternoon.

In the past nine days, five patients have escaped, out of which three were brought back.

39-year-old from Kozhikode who escaped when he was released for bathing on Feb 14 and 17-year-old who escaped on Feb 20 have not been found yet.

42-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man who escaped earlier were brought back by the police. Escape became prevalent after the death of Maharashtra native and one woman was arrested in relation to that.

Currently, there are 480 patients in Kuthiravattom but it can only admit 474 patients. Instead of 20 security personnel, including women, there are only four temporary staff. None of these are women.
