THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and opposition leader V D Satheesan clashed in the assembly over the rising number of political murders, crime and goonda violence in the state. The opposition had given a notice for an adjournment motion to discuss the matters. However, the speaker denied approval for the adjournment motion, as the chief minister informed that there was no need to discuss the matter by adjourning the house. Soon after, V D Satheesan raised sharp criticisms against the chief minister.
The constitution grants us the right to live in our country. The chief minister has failed miserably in protecting the lives and property of the people. The Pinarayi government has turned into a government that cannot save anyone. Murders and goonda attacks are continuously happening in the state. In Thiruvananthapuram, goons and drug gangs are operating under the very nose of the chief minister. However, the chief minister is saying that these are all isolated events. This is the funniest word during the Pinarayi government. Such isolated events are happening every day, alleged V D Satheesan.
There is no power hierarchy in today’s police. Who is appointing the superintendent of police? The circle inspectors and station house officers are appointed by the area secretaries. Interventions take place in all matters. The collectors are not taking decisions to arrest goons under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAPA). Around 14,000 goons were advised under Operation Kaval, criticized Satheesan.
