THRISSUR: A huge crowd was witnessed in all places where the body of KPAC Lalitha, who shone in the Malayalam film industry as a heroine, mother and grandmother, was kept. Film colleagues and socio-cultural personalities paid their last respects to the body. Artistes from the film fraternity and dignitaries from the social and cultural fields paid homage to the body when kept at the Layam Auditorium in Thripunithura.
The procession carrying the body of the actress to Vadakkancherry started at 11.30 am. The body was kept at the Sangeetha Nadaka Academy hall for some time. The body is now kept at Vadakkancherry municipality. From here, the body will be taken to her house ‘Orma’ at Engakatte in Vadakkancherry. All arrangements have been made for the cremation. A large crowd is witnessed at the premises of the municipality.
The actress died last night at 10.45 pm at her son Sidharth’s house in Tripunithura. She had been undergoing treatment for liver ailments for quite some time. Hearing her death news, Mammootty said that she was very dear to him. He reached her house early morning to pay homage. Actor Prithviraj came with his mother Mallika Sukumaran to pay homage. Jayasurya and Manoj K Jayan followed behind.
Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian paid homage. Mohanlal, Mammootty, Renji Panicker, Ramesh Pisharody, Fahadh Faasil, Dileep, Kavya Madhavan, directors Shaji Kailas, B Unnikrishnan, Raju and many others paid homage.
