THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Swami Gangeshananda has revealed that he had to say that he had cut his own genitals because of the situation at that time. He said that his genitals were chopped off while he was unconscious and regained consciousness due to excruciating pain. "At first, I saw the girl opening the door and running away. Later, I understood my genitals were cut off", Swami Gangeshananda said.
"I said the genitals were cut off by myself as I was in tremendous pain. I thought that treatment is more important than understanding what happened. My intention was to escape as soon as possible", Gangeshananda said.
Gangeshanda's genital mutilation took place in May 2017 in Pettah in Thiruvananthapuram. A 23-year-old student had complained that she had cut off his genitals in self-defense when he tried to sexually assault her. However, when the case came up in the court, the girl and her parents said that Gangeshananda had not harmed her and that she was forced by her lover Ayyappadas to harm Gangeshananda. The case was handed over to the Crime Branch. The crime branch had found that Ayyappadas had hatched the plan out of spite and followed a video of genital mutilation on social media to chop off Gangeshananda's genitals.
