THRISSUR: The first screening of the film 'Koottukudumbam' is taking place at Anand Theater in Kottayam. Maheshwari's family lived in Changanassery at that time. They called a taxi and went to Kottayam to watch the movie. Maheshwari was surprised to see the title which says 'We are introducing newcomer KPAC Lalitha'. That Maheshwari is KPAC Lalitha who has been at the helm of acting for half a century!

While studying at Govt. Girls School, Ramapuram, Changanassery Waryath School and Puzhavath Government School, Maheshwari was passionate about dance. She became a star of youth festivals through dance performances and joining the Indian Dance Academy was a turning point. She studied there for three years and made her debut in a dance performance in a play by Changanassery Geetha Arts Club.

She played the role of a court dancer in Tagore's play 'Bali'. Later she acted in S L Puram Sadanandan's Prathibha Arts in the play 'Kakkapulli'. It was played on about 75 stages. Sankaradi, Kottayam Chellappan and Vanchiyoor Radha were all her co-stars in the play.. The drama could not be staged later as they were all busy in the cinema. That is how she joined KPAC. . Later, Lalitha became a busy actress in cinema.
