PATNA: A local JD(U) leader in Samastipur district in Bihar was beaten to death by a gang of cow vigilantes for allegedly eating beef. The deceased has been identified as Mohamad Khalil Rizvi. Khalil's body was found buried in a poultry farm after it was drenched with petrol and set on fire.

Khalil's body was found four days after his family filed a missing complaint at the police station. Sources said that some people had contacted Khalil's family and demanded money to release him.

A video clip shared on social media showed a group of men beating Khalil and asking him how much beef he ate. The video also shows Khalil folding his hands and begging for his life. Police have launched an investigation.
