mark-list

KOCHI: The government has made it clear in the high court that grace marks will be recorded separately in the higher secondary mark list. Grace marks will not be awarded in such a way as to get more than 90 percent marks in each subject. The government has said that this is explained in the Higher Secondary Examination Manual 2022 of the Department of Public Education. A division bench comprising Justice AK Jayashankaran Nambiar and Justice CP Mohammad Niaz, on the basis of the explanation, adjourned the proceedings of the appeal relating to the awarding of grace marks without restraint.

On July 8, 2019, the High Court single bench had ordered the implementation of the decisions including suspension of moderation for Higher Secondary. The proposal was to implement the decisions of the meeting of state education secretaries convened by the central government. However, the division bench considered the appeal filed by Roshan Jacob, a native of Karavalur in Pathanamthitta, and others on the ground that the order lacked clarity in the case of grace mark in Higher Secondary.
