MOSCOW: Thousands of Russians staged anti-war protests in the country, following Russia’s announcement that their Ukraine attack was successful on the first day. Around 1,700 people, who gathered in the former imperial capital Saint Petersburg, raising banners ‘Russia is against war’, were arrested. Moscow prosecutors have warned that unauthorized gatherings are illegal and will lead to negative consequences. The federal investigative committee has also issued special warnings to unpermitted demonstrators.
Meantime, US President Joe Biden has announced sanctions against Russia and said that he has no plans to hold talks with Russia. Putin is not going to stop, he is setting up a rationale to go much further, Biden said. 7000 US soldiers will be send to Germany for ensuring the security of NATO allies. 137 deaths were recorded on the first day of war, claimed Ukraine.
Japan has decided to increase its sanctions on Russia. The Russian troops have confirmed that they have captured the Chernobyl power plant. We will fight until our last breath, informed the Ukraine soldiers.
