MOSCOW: Formula 1 world champions Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel has expressed their protest against Russian invasion in Ukraine. ‘For myself, my own opinion is that I should not go, I will not go. I think it’s wrong to race in the country’, said Vettel.
Aston Martin driver and four time Formula 1 champion, Vettel, has expressed shock over the Russian actions, at a press meet in Barcelona. “I’m sorry for the innocent people that are losing their lives, that are getting killed for stupid reasons and a very, very strange and mad leadership”, he said.
The current champion Verstappen has also said it would be wrong for the Russian Grand Prix to go ahead in September, after Russia invaded Ukraine. We are monitoring the incidents in Russia, said a Formula 1 spokesperson. The next Formula 1 race is to be held on March 20, in Bahrain. The Russian Grand Prix is scheduled for September 25.
