THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Another murder in broad daylight has happened in the capital city after the one witnessed in Ambalamukku. A miscreant who arrived with deadly weapons hacked to death the receptionist of Hotel City Tower near Thampanoor Overbridge. The dead has been identified as Ayyappan (34), a native of Nagercoil. Ayyappan was sitting in a chair at the hotel reception. Soon, a person on a bike entered the hotel, caught him by the neck and then hacked him to death with the machete in his hand.
It is clear from the CCTV visuals that the miscreant came with the intention of killing him and is seen hacking him several times. Only after confirming his death, he fled from the area. However, it is not clear what was the reason for committing the crime. Only Ayyappan and a room boy were there at the time of the incident.
When the boy returned after throwing the waste at the back of the hotel, he saw Ayyappan lying in a pool of blood. The hotel owner’s wife said that she went home last night after talking to Ayyappan. One of the hotel owners said that Ayyappan had never told him about any issues and that he had not noticed any such thing also. Ayyappan is a distant relative of the hotel owners.
Ayyappan had been working here for three years. Meantime, the police have intensified search for the accused. Top police officials have reached the spot.
