KYIV: India has intensified efforts to fly back people stranded in Ukraine. Foreign ministry said that today alone 1,000 students will be evacuated by road from Ukraine.

Efforts are being made to evacuate them through the borders of Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Romania. In the first phase, Air India will send flights to Romania and Hungary tomorrow. Registration for students wishing to leave Ukraine is progressing at the Indian Embassy in Hungary. The centre will bear the complete expenses of those returning.

The new directive released by foreign affairs ministry has asked the students to reach the borders of Hungary and Romania. Those living near the border should arrive first. Those who need any kind of help should call the helpline numbers.

Should keep their passports in hand. It is better to keep the money as US dollars. If they have a Covid double vaccination certificate, then should keep that with them. The Indian flag should be clearly stuck on the vehicle. The embassy in a statement said this was to ensure security.
