THODUPUZHA: A turning point in the incident where the deadly drug MDMA was seized the from the bike of the husband of a panchayat member in Idukki's Vandanmedu. It turned out that the wife hid the drugs in her husband's bike. Vandanmedu panchayat member Soumya Sunil was arrested in the incident.

She hid MDMA in her husband's two-wheeler. The police was then tipped off. The drug was seized during a police check, but it was later found that her husband is innocent. An investigation led by the Kattappana DySP led to the arrest of the youth.

The woman was planning to live with her lover after getting her husband behind bars. According to police, her lover Vinod is abroad. Soumya and co-accused Shanavas and Shefin from Ernakulam were also arrested in the case. Initially, the plan was to kill the husband in a road accident. A team from Ernakulam was deployed for this. However, the move was abandoned due to fears of being caught by the police. After this, there were plans to lace husband's food with poison. They later abandoned the plan and decided to frame him in a drug case.
