THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the increase in electricity tariff, KSEB is introducing another solar project in association with ANERT. This rooftop solar project is being re-launched as a new project called Soura Thejas. The new scheme is more attractive and transparent. The rooftop solar project generated 62 MW of electricity. About 19,000 people applied. There is a huge campaign for Soura Thejas. Spot registration was held in the districts. The target is 100 megawatts per household.

Rs 1.90 lakh per family

For households with electricity bills above Rs. 1500 / - per month, a plant of less than three kilowatts is sufficient. That is 360 units per month. The cost of this plant is Rs. 1,90,500. All you have to do is pay the amount after a subsidy of Rs 57,000. If there is more land and money, a larger plant can be set up. KSEB charges Rs 2.94 per unit for excess electricit.y One-kilowatt plant requires 100 square feet of space. 40 percent subsidy up to the first 3 kW. 20 percent subsidy for each subsequent kilowatt. The solar panel has a 25 year warranty and a five-year service warranty for the entire plant.

Bill transaction with KSEB

KSEB solar power deal will be on the basis of net metering. If a person uses 500 units per month and uses 300 units of solar power and 200 units of KSEB electricity, he has to pay for 200 units. The rate is calculated based on the slab for 200 units.

"The rooftop solar project will be further expanded. People's participation is essential to make every home a power generation hub."
