NEW DELHI: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has spoken with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and seeked his help to end the war.
Zelenskyy informed of the course of Ukraine repulsing Russian aggression to Modi and asked for political support in UN Security Council. Meanwhile, Russia welcomed India's stance on the UN. Russia has said that they are pleased that India has remained neutral in the United Nations.
Russia has vetoed a draft UN Security Council resolution deploring Moscow's invasion of Ukraine and demanding the immediate withdrawal of its troops. In the 15-member council, 11 countries voted in favour. China, India and the United Arab Emirates abstained from voting. The resolution was not passed after Russia vetoed it being a permanent member of the UN Security Council. "The country is deeply disturbed by the recent developments in Ukraine," said T S Thirumoorthy, India's representative at UN Council meeting. No solution can ever be found by risking human life. He said that discussions were the only way to resolve differences and disputes
