BALUSSERY: A group of hired goons who came to evict a house in connection with a financial transaction in Nanmanda opened fire on the householder and the locals. The dispute and the shooting were related to the eviction of Wilson's house near Nanmanda High School. The incident took place at around 8 last night.
Muneer (35) from Cherivadi in Mukkam and Shafi (32) from Omassery were arrested and handed over to Balussery police. It is suspected that the quotation gang was arranged by Sathyan, a native of Panayi. There was a case in the High Court against Wilson for his financial dealings with Sathyan. Wilson's house was transferred to Sathyan through a deed but not vacated. Sathyan then approached the High Court and got a favorable verdict.
Police and officers arrived Saturday afternoon and evacuated the home, according to a court order. But since there was nowhere to go, Wilson, his wife and two children sat in front of the house with their belongings. Locals and neighbors came to the house to inquire about the incident.
Meanwhile, a group of three men broke into the house at night and opened fire. Six rounds were fired but no one was injured. Locals caught two members of the gang and another ran away and escaped. Balussery police are camping at the spot.
