THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM will set into the state conference with the backing of the organizational force that ensured the continuance of rule and without any tensions of factionalism. The conference, which evaluates the performance of the party in the last three years, will give a boost to the leadership in the context of the continuance of rule. Although factionalism at the local level is disturbing the leadership, the party has taken necessary precautions to ensure that it does not transform into leadership-level factionalism.
With the government and the party moving in the same direction, the Ernakulam state conference ahead of the 23rd party congress aims to expand the organizational strength of the party. The main agenda is to increase the mass influence of the party. At the same time, the conference will approve a policy aimed at the future development of Kerala. This policy will be crucial in the context of the party's shift to a complete reformist argument. The CPM is preparing to discuss the organizational empowerment agenda on the basis of its self-assessment that it has not grown into the majority movement despite being the largest party in Kerala.
Even after coming to power with great success in 2016 and 2021, Ernakulam remains a district where the Left Front is unable to exert influence. The party is also considering political strategies to increase organizational strength there. According to the CPM, Ernakulam is leaning towards UDF due to the large number of middle-class people and due to the growth of the affluent population in the urban region. The political tactic of accessing such a center may be discussed.
As the new middle class grows stronger in a globalized and liberalized society, the party will move into programs that will attract more of them. At the same time, the party sees a widening gap between rich and poor, and how the Covid pandemic further impoverished society. The CPM is also closely watching the moves of the majority and minority communal forces in Kerala. The conference will also discuss the adoption of ideology that can cultivate leftist consciousness in a situation where superstitions and superstitious practices are holding back society.
