NEW DELHI: As the invasion continues for a fifth day, Russia is preparing to launch new attack methods against Ukraine. Until now, Russia has been majorly dependent on air operations to facilitate its troops’ entry into Ukraine. However, Vladimir Putin has instructed his troops for a change in plans. As the next step, Russia is preparing to bring in heavy armoured vehicles in large numbers to Ukraine.

Videos suggesting the movement of Russian armoured vehicles towards Kyiv have been circulating on the social media. A video of Ukrainian citizens blocking the movement of a Russian tank convoy has also been widely circulated. Reports suggest that Russia plans to destroy Ukraine forces with giant tanks, following the shelling and missile strikes. According to reports, Russia has 12,000 tanks while Ukraine has only 2,500. Heavy armoured vehicles capable of deploying troops add to Russia’s military power. T-72 tanks capable of launching missiles also pose serious threat to Ukraine. These tanks can launch thermobaric missiles that can suffocate people leading to massacres.

Apart from the T-90, T-72 tanks, used by Russia since the Cold War period, the new advanced T-14 Armata stealth tanks are also of grave threat. However, there is some relief for Ukraine as these tanks are less in number. Russia has about 20 T-14 tanks. The major feature of these brand-new tanks is the unmanned turret-a mounting platform that can be used for firing while shielding the crew. These are also quicker and has more manoeuvrability than others. Such lightweight tanks can create a major crisis for the Ukrainian military. An additional delivery of upgraded T-90 tanks to Russia has also been reported.
