BHOPAL: A 35-year-old man who allegedly extorted money by promising to rescue a student trapped in Ukraine, was arrested. The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by a woman hailing from Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh. The complainant’s daughter is studying for edicine in Ukraine.

Prince Gava, a native of Gurugram in Harayana, had called the complainant, impersonating to be a staff in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). He had made the call on Wednesday. The accused had demanded Rs 42,000 for booking plane tickets.

The money was transferred via mobile banking. From then onwards, the man was unreachable. Subsequently, the woman lodged a complaint with the police. Prince was arrested on Friday and was brought to Vidisha on Monday morning. He has been remanded.
