KOCHI: CPI(M) state conference convenes on Tuesday in B Raghavan Nagar, Marine Drive. In the political situation that has reaped the benefits of continued governance, the conference will discuss the development agenda to take Kerala forward. The conference will be held ahead of the party congress starting on April 6 in Kannur.
Ernakulam Conference will go down in history as a platform for generation change in the State Committee as it tightened the age limit to 75 years. Ananthalavattom Anandan, a senior member of the state secretariat, will hoist the flag to mark the start of the session.State Secretariat meeting held on Monday evening evaluated the final preparations.
Although Ernakulam convention is being held with the aim of putting an end to secretarianism certain rumours related to local leaders upsets the party. Strict recommendation will be taken to curb any such further divisional disputes.
Strategies to attract more middle class people to the party will be discussed. Although continuity of governance was ensured in Kerala, occasional controversy and criticism like failure of police dept have affected the party's image and these issues might be discussed in the convention.
The main focus of the conference will be on the development policy which is to be discussed and approved by the party. It will also be known as the first conference held without the presence of VS, who has been the spearhead of CPM since the formation of the party.
