THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The preliminary post-mortem report of Suresh, who died in police custody, has indicated that a heart attack caused his death. However, doctors said that the results of the pathology test were needed to determine the cause of the heart attack.

Suresh and four others were taken into custody on Sunday night for attacking a couple who reached Judgekunnu in Thiruvallam. The Thiruvallam police arrested them after receiving a complaint from the woman. Later that night, the police rushed Suresh to the hospital after he complained of chest pain. Suresh died at a private hospital at around 11.30 pm. Police said that Suresh was rushed to the hospital after he complained of chest pain.

However, locals and relatives alleged that Suresh died as a result of custodial torture. Following this, they besieged the Thiruvallam police station. The post-mortem was performed by a team of three doctors from the Medical College. Suresh's body was cremated at Shanthi Kavadam crematorium
