KYIV: The whole of India was saddened by the death of Naveen, the Indian student who was killed in Russia's shelling in Ukraine’s Kharkiv. In his last conversation with his son, Naveen's father had advised him to place an Indian flag outside the building he was in. A video of this conversation indicated that it was Union Minister Piyush Goyal who suggested this idea.
In the conversation, Naveen's father was heard saying that they had spoken to Union Minister Piyush Goyal. He also said that the minister suggested that Indians in Ukraine should place Indian flags outside the buildings they are staying and that they should try to carry the national flag with them while going out.
Naveen and his friends were staying in a region that has been witnessing heavy Russian shelling. The probability of escaping from there was only two percent. Russia and Ukraine had assured the safety of Indians staying in Kharkiv. Naveen was killed when he went out to buy food.
Naveen's father was also heard asking him why he had not moved to a safe place from Kharkiv. Naveen replied that the situation was very bad and there was a large crowd waiting to flee from the region. He also said that he had received information that trains were operating at 6 am, 10 am and 1 pm. Naveen's father then advised him to leave the place after observing the situation and not to do anything without the help of someone.
