KYIV: As the Russian invasion continues for the seventh day in a row, the news is full of Ukrainians courageously coming forward to defend their country, in whatever ways possible. The visuals of women and elderly, armed with guns and bombs, fighting without fearing the enemy’s strength, has astonished the whole world. Lately, the video of an elderly Ukrainian woman, who made a bomb on her won, challenging the Russians, has gone viral.

After Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the people to fight for the country, a large number of citizens, including the former president, mayor, parliament member and athletes, have come out to fight the Russian army. Recently, news had spread about a brewery in Pravda that had switched from making beer to constructing Molotov cocktails in a bid to arm citizens amid the Russian invasion. Soon after, a grandmother from Ukraine made into the news, for making Molotov cocktails with the help of Google.

Raisa Smatko, a retired economist, has revealed her self-made Molotov collections to an international media. She also declared that she is ready to take on the Russians.

Numerous people have come out in the social media, lauding the grandmother. “Amazing. People here throwing fits because they have to wear a mask, supposedly defending their freedoms and here’s a woman actually defending her freedom. Ukraine is becoming a model for us all”, wrote a user.
