KOCHI: Police are investigating whether the drug mafia was involved in the suicide of YouTube vlogger and model Neha (Muhbasheera, 27), a native of Vaduthala, Ernakulam. Police have intensified the search for Kasargod native Siddharth, who stayed with Neha. The close friends of Siddharth and Neha will be questioned in the coming days. Police have found MDMA and hashish oil from a room in the Mermaid apartment on Jawan Cross Road, Ponekara, where the two had been staying.
Police also arrested a youth with 15 grams of MDMA from the nearby area. It is suspected that the drugs found in the woman's room may have been given by a group including this youth. Neha was found hanging inside the flat at around 2 pm on Monday. It was Siddharth's friend who discovered the body. Police interrogated and released this man and two other youths. The postmortem was completed and the body was handed over to the relatives. The funeral took place in Kochi. Neha has a son.
Siddharth had left Kochi left Ernakulam two days before the incident to meet his mother. His phone is currently switched off. When Neha's relatives contacted him, Siddharth said he had nothing to do with the incident. A ring with Siddharth's name inscribed on it was found on Neha's finger. Her phone was handed over for scientific testing. The internal organs have been sent to the lab in Thiruvananthapuram for examination.
