PALAKKAD: The autobiography of the mother of Walayar girls, titled ‘Njan Walayar Amma, Peru Bhagyavathi’ will be released on Friday. It will be released at 10 am, in the backyard of her house in Attappallam. Friday marks the fifth death anniversary of her younger daughter.
In the autobiography, she has revealed that there is a sixth accused involved in her daughters’ death and that the case was subverted in order to save him. After the death of her elder daughter, two people had left the house. My younger daughter saw them leaving. Despite informing the police about the matter, no action was taken, she said.
I have openly written about everything that had happened, said the mother. The girls were found hanging inside the house in January and March 2017. The post-mortem had revealed that they were sexually abused.
The police had arrested V Madhu, a native of Pampampallam, Shibu, a native of Rajakkad, Pradeep Kumar, a native of Cherthala and a 16-year-old boy, in connection with the case. Another youth Praveen, who was summoned for questioning during the investigation, had hanged himself.
Pradeep Kumar, the third accused in the case, was acquitted by the Palakkad court citing lack of evidence, in October 2019. Later, the court also acquitted V Madhu, M Madhu and Shibu. The trial of the 16-year-old was shifted to a juvenile court. Pradeep Kumar had committed suicide. Last January, the high court quashed the trial court’s order acquitting the accused and referred the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
