KOCHI: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that new action plans were being formulated to attract more people to the CPM. He was speaking to the media after being elected state secretary for the third time.

"The CPM is a party that ordinary people believe in. The people firmly believe that the state can be saved through the CPM. The continuance of rule is a recognition of pro-people measures taken by the LDF government," Kodiyeri said.

"Suggestions were raised to turn Kerala more women-friendly. The government should take the lead in ensuring equality in all sectors. We need to change the attitude that sees women as second class. We need campaigns for this," he added.

The CPM state conference approved the development document presented for the creation of a new Kerala. The development document contained proposals and amendments raised during the conference, including the strengthening of agricultural sector. The document will be enriched within six months after discussing with the LDF and the public.

Interventions in cultural sphere to be strengthened
Interventions in the cultural sphere will be strengthened. The document on the duties on the cultural front was also approved. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan replied to the discussion on the development record. The campaign for the creation of a new Kerala should be strengthened. Activists must work within the policy framework. The document will be explained at the branch level in May and June. The opinion of the LDF constituents will be accepted. The document will be finalized within six months, taking into account the views of society.

P Jayarajan not included in state secretariat
P Jayarajan was not included in the state secretariat as there were already many leaders from Kannur in the state secretariat. There are no issues with Jayarajan. Not everyone can be taken to the secretariat assuming they are a senior member of the party.
