MOHALI: Sri Lanka could not overtake India in bowling and batting due to the pitch in Mohali. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 178 in the second innings on the third day of the first Test between India and Sri Lanka. India won by an innings and 222 runs.
In reply to India's 574 runs, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 174 in the first innings. Only Niroshan Dickwella was able to hold on for a while for Sri Lanka. Dickwella was unbeaten on 51 off 81 balls. Dhananjaya de Silva (30), Angelo Mathews (28) and Karunaratne (27) were the other batsmen who scored better.
Jadeja, who took five wickets in the first innings, bowled well in the second innings as well. He took four wickets for 46 runs in 16 overs. Ashwin also took four wickets for 47 runs in 21 overs.
