MOUNT MANGANUI: Indian women's cricket captain Mithali Raj joins the record set by Sachin Tendulkar and Pakistan's Javed Miandad. Mithali holds the record for participating in six Cricket World Cups. Mithali's rare achievement was created in the match against Pakistan. Mithali is the first woman to play in six World Cups in women's cricket. In cricket, Sachin Tendulkar and Miandad are the only players to have played in six previous World Cups.

Mithali's first World Cup was in 2000. Since then, Mithali has worn the Indian jersey at the 2005, 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2022 World Cups. Mithali is the first Indian to play in six World Cups since Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar played for India in the 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011 World Cups.

Meanwhile, in today's World Cup match, Pakistan collapsed as they could not keep pace with the Indian bowling line-up. India won the toss and elected to bat.

Batting first, India scored 244 for 7 in 50 overs. In reply, Pakistan's batting line-up literally collapsed. Only opener Sidra Amin (30) and Diana Baig (24) were able to hold on. Left-arm spin bowler Rajeshwari Gaikwad's superb delivery limited the Pakistan women's score. Rajeshwari took four wickets for 31 runs in 10 overs.

Pooja Vastrakar, a newcomer, was the star of the match. Pooja scored 67 off 59 balls with eight fours. Pooja put on 122 for the seventh wicket with Sneha Rana. Opener Smriti Mandhana scored 52 runs. Deepti Sharma also scored 40 runs.
