MUMBAI: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Monday lashed out at Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Pawar was speaking at a function at the AIT College Grounds in Pune to mark the inauguration of various development projects of the state government. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Governor Koshyari and Pawar said his speech in their presence.

A few days ago, Koshyari spoke at a function describing Samarth Ramdas as the guru of Chhatrapati Shivaji. This was opposed by the leaders of the Maha Vikas Akhadi, which heads the Maharashtra government. Some BJP leaders also came out against the governor's speech. It is believed that Ajit Pawar was referring to the Governor's speech.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who without referring Governor's name, said he wanted to bring to the attention of the PM some individuals who are in critical positions in the state administration making statements that are not acceptable to the people of Maharashtra. The relationship between the Maharashtra government and the governor has not been in a good relation for some time. Ministers and governor of the Maharashtra government have been criticizing each other on various issues for some time now.
