NEW DELHI: Harjot Singh (31), the Indian student shot at in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv during Russian attack, has reached Poland. He is expected to land in Delhi by 7 pm as part of Operation Ganga. Harjot is included in the 200 students from Poland, a country bordering Ukraine, reaching the country. Indian diplomats are also with the student. The student was taken by a special ambulance arranged by Poland.


Meantime, the centre said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today and seek his support for the repatriation of the remaining Indians from Ukraine. Modi had spoken to Zelenskyy on February 26. The phone conversation was after India withdrew from the UN vote following Russian invasion.

The Ministry of External Affairs had yesterday informed that Operation Ganga had reached its final stages. As part of this, the authorities directed the remaining Indians in Ukraine to reach Budapest, the capital of Hungary, as early as possible. The Centre had said that 16,000 Indian students had been repatriated since February 22. About 1,500 Indians will return on various flights, the officials said.
