THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have revealed more details about the death of Kattakkada native Gayathri, who was killed by her lover Praveen in a hotel in Thiruvananthapuram. According to police, both Praveen and Gayathri roamed around in the city and had food from a restaurant before Gayathri was killed. Police came to know about this while questioning Praveen.
Praveen was disturbed over the fact that his relationship with Gayathri had caused problems in his family. He also suffered insult at his workplace due to this relationship. Before leaving for Tamil Nadu, he decided to talk to Gayathri and convince her to leave the relationship. For this, he took a room in a hotel in Thampanoor and then went to Kattakkada on a bike to pick up Gayathri.
During their journey to Thampanoor, the two stopped at a restaurant and had food. After reaching the hotel room, Praveen talked about his plan to relocate to Tamil Nadu. Soon, a dispute broke out between the two over this matter. Although Gayathri asked him to take her with him, Praveen did not agree.
As the dispute went on, Gayathri uploaded a photo, which showed Praveen tying knot with her at a church, as her WhatsApp status. Praveen immediately snatched the phone from her and deleted the photo. Following this, the two quarrelled and Gayathri attempted to fasten her shawl around Praveen's neck. This provoked Praveen. Upon realising that Gayathri won't leave him, he took the shawl and strangulated her by fastening it around her neck. Gayathri soon fell unconscious. Though Praveen tried to wake her up, he later realised that she was dead.
In order to mislead Gayathri's family, Praveen then called Gayathri's sister using her phone and told her that Gayathri was with him. He then went to the company-owned flat and changed his clothes before going to the Thampanoor bus stand. He was mentally shattered following the murder. Later, he called his uncle, informed him about the events and requested help. He then went to Chathannoor on a bus.
After reaching Chathannoor, he secretly met some of his relatives. Meanwhile, police had started searching for him at his relatives' houses. Following this, Praveen decided to surrender.
