NEW DELHI: The rescue mission from Ukraine is in its final stages. So far, 17,400 Indians have been flown home in 83 aircraft as part of Operation Ganga. 400 more people will return in two flights today.

Efforts are continuing to fly home the students stranded in Sumy. They started evacuating those stranded in four buses from Poltava near Sumy, but abandoned the attempt following an explosion on the way. The Indian Embassy directed the children to stay safe in their accommodation. India raised Sumy crisis at the UN Security Council. India has informed the security council that a safe corridor was not arranged for the Indian students.

Meantime, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has informed that 3,000 more Indians could be repatriated from the Hungarian-Romanian border today and tomorrow. Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri and General V K Singh, who were directly involved in the evacuation of Operation Ganga, returned to Delhi yesterday.
