KOCHI: The court granted anticipatory bail to Anjali Rima Dev in the No 18 hotel POCSO case. Anticipatory bail was not granted to the other accused, the hotel owner Roy Vayalat and Saiju Thankachan. The court said bail was granted to Anjali on the grounds of being a woman. However, the charges imposed on Vayalat and Thankachan are serious. Bail was denied to both pointing human trafficking was a crime punishable to life imprisonment.

The court had examined the CCTV footages of the hotel in detail. The court rejected their bail pleas based on this.

The case is that a minor girl from Wayanad was brought to the hotel and abused sexually. However, the accused informed the court that a dispute over some financial dealings with the girl’s mother is behind the allegations.

Meantime, the police have started an investigation against Anjali Rima Dev for revealing the name of the complainant in the case. Kozhikode city police commissioner A V George said that a complaint has been received from the victim and an investigation will be conducted.
