KOCHI: The Kerala High Court harshly criticised for tying festoons on roadsides in Kochi in connection with the CPM state meet. Justice Devan Ramachandran said it is not a matter to the court who tied the flag, the main thing is to take action against those who acted illegally.
The festoons were erected on the footpath against the permission of the corporation. How did the corporation close their eyes to the violations? The court also criticized the corporation secretary for failing to take action. The court also scoffed saying that there would be fearless officials.
The single bench's remarks came soon after the amicus curiae informed that festoons were tied everywhere as part of the CPM state meet. The government should clarify their stand in this regard. Do you think that only one party can do anything? The poor are fined if they do not wear helmets? The court had earlier asserted that is this the legal system that Kerala is proud of.
